FOURTH FINAL PLACE AT THE 24H OF SPA
29/07/2007 -- Matteo Bobbi's participation to the 24h of Spa-Francorchamps, sixth round of the 2007 FIA GT Championship, concluded right close to the podium.
The race started with the crew Bobbi/Lemeret/Ramos/Montanari seventh on the starting grid and has been, as usual, full of twists most of which due to the heavy rain long fallen on the Belgian track.
Matteo Bobbi drove for about seven ours, split in several stints as scheduled by the strategy of the Vitaphone Racing Team. The Italian driver has never committed any error, despite weather conditions made the race very tough and he has been fighting for the podium until the final stages of the race.
Throughout the race, some electric and tyres problems made the crew lose those minutes that at the end have been crucial for the final result that saw Bobbi and his team mates fourth under the chequered flag.
Matteo Bobbi: "Everything went fairly well, even though I'd rather get a podium. Personally, I am very satisfied by my performance: I have been fast throughout the whole weekend and I never made any mistake despite this being my first race with a MC12.
A 24h race is very insidious also from a technical point of view and we lose some time by getting to the pits to solve some mechanical problems as other teams did. Despite of this, we often held the second and third position, therefore the podium would have been a deserved result.
I'd like to thank all Vitaphone Racing Team men as well as my team mates, with whom I worked in an amazing way for this race."
