A place on the 2nd row and not the least of worries for the Corvette C6.R of Beretta, Gavin, Vosse and Franchi

This time we've got to the heart of these Total 24 Hours of Spa, with two free practice sessions followed by three qualifying sessions, which confirmed the enormous potential of the Corvettes entered, and namely the C6.R entered by the Alphand Aventures team, omnipresent at the top of the rankings throughout the various sessions ...

And the least one can say is that the time differences during these two days at Francorchamps were being permanently reduced, proving the extreme level of competitiveness in this FIA-GT championship. "For us everything went as according to plan ", Olivier Beretta commented."The only minor regret is going out to clinch pole. Oliver Gavin was in charge of titillating the stopwatch and he was quite clearly obstructed in the Pif-Paf after the double left by a slower Ferrari. We lost some tenths there, which definitely cost us the pole position!"

But we all know how relative such a spot on the front of the grid is in a 24 Hours endurance race ... "The most important aspect for us is the knowledge that the Corvette didn't experience the slightest problem ", Vincent Vosse continued, "and we also noticed how homogenous the team is, which is a good omen for the actual race. We can take on this event in the most efficient manner possible, adopting a steady but high rhythm, but always remaining conservative. It is a known fact that the one who spends the least time in the pitlane during the 24 Hours that has the highest chance of winning the event ..."

The Brit Oliver Gavin, the official Corvette driver in the American Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will take the start of the race this Saturday on the dot of 16.00hrs. After a single stint of 65', he will hand over the car to Olivier Beretta, the driver from Monaco and the other official Corvette driver, prior to the Belgians Vincent Vosse and Greg Franchi taking over the relay. During the first part of the race the schedule is to work on single driving stints, as planned in the Alphand Aventures team programme...

When it comes to the team's ambitions, these are quite clearly very high. "I reckon that with the car and the team we have we should be aiming at the overall victory ", Greg Franchi remarked, recently racing in the World Series by Renault."In my opinion our most serious adversaries are the Corvette C6.R of Mike Hezemans, and the Maserati Vitaphone #1. One thing is for sure, the first few hours of the race are going to be pretty hot, each team trying to get out in front ..."

Never since moving over to GT in 2001 have these 24 Hours of Spa been in a position to show off such a grid and array of machinery, especially in the GT1 category. No way could the Alphand Aventures team allow such an opportunity to pass them by and compete in this great event for GTs, and the highlight of the FIA season ...
