The Corvette C6.R Alphand Aventures is ready for the Battle of the Bulge

Whilst all the cars entered in the Total 24 Hours of Spa went down to the centre of Spa this Wednesday afternoon, the Alphand Aventures team proudly showed off the definite livery of the Corvette C6.R ready to compete in the event, and who are leaders in the GT1 category of the Le Mans Series 2007. It is at the wheel of a pure white power monster that Olivier Beretta, Oliver Gavin, Vincent Vosse and Greg Franchi will be doing battle during the various practice sessions as also the 24 Hours endurance race. And the least one can say is that there is a certain optimism reigning in the French clan, managed by Philippe Poincloux...

This beautiful American car straight out of the Pratt & Miller workshops is the ideal weapon for such an endurance event, and the high point of the FIA-GT championship. Amongst its list of records this C6.R can boast a resounding victory in GT1 at the....24 Hours of Le Mans 2006, at that time racing under the colours of the official works Corvette. This means that the car has been specially built for such type of particularly gruelling races. But this time around it isn't a category win at the end of the day, but rather success in the overall results, going out from the point of view that these superb GT beasts are top of the bill in these Total 24 Hours of Spa...

Even though Alphand Aventures doesn't have much to prove any more on the international scene, it can count on four quite exceptional drivers for these 24 Hours. And notably comprised out of the "official GM" drivers, namely the Monegasque Olivier Beretta and the Brit Oliver Gavin. Only a few days after having brilliantly won the GT1 category at Mid-Ohio, in the American Le Mans Series, these two champions and class winners at Le Mans, who have also had a taste of F1 at some time in their careers, have no intention of holding back on this Belgian Ardennes circuit. "The 24 Hours of Spa is still missing from my record book, and I must admit that coming out on top with such a competent and well humoured team really tempts me ", Olivier Beretta commented. " Oliver Gavin and I know the car inside out, whilst both Vincent and Greg know Francorchamps like the back of their hand. In fact everything is looking up ..."

Winner of the 24 Hours of Spa in 2002, Vincent Vosse could picture a second win on the horizon in an event where he has always done well in the past. "How could one let such an opportunity pass by to be able to drive with such great characters as Beretta et Gavin at the wheel of a car specially built for endurance racing, and for such a competent team as that of Luc Alphand ?", Vincent commented. Even though on paper we have everything pointing to success, we need to beware of the race conditions here at Spa. Every year there are numerous surprises, and we must at all costs avoid any serious errors ..."

As for Greg Franchi, this 25 year old young lion is definitely going places this year. Winner of the BTCS 12 Hours of Spa with his friend Vosse, winner during the second heat of the most recent Mégane Trophy in Budapest, this young man from Liége is competing in the Le Mans Series at the wheel of an Aston Martin GT1, but he has quickly adapted to the Corvette C6.R, as was proven during the Test-Day for the 24 Hours. Greg obviously didn't want to miss the opportunity of competing in these 24 Hours in such ideal conditions. His endurance apprenticeship at a top level will therefore continue in the best possible manner ...
