Gennep – The next two 24-hour races in the 24H Series powered by Hankook take teams and drivers to two beautiful destinations. The second running of the Hankook 24H Circuit Paul Ricard (July 15-17, 2016) is held in the south of France, just before the summer break. Then, after the holiday season, the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya beckons for the Hankook 24H Barcelona (September 2-4, 2016) as the penultimate round of this year’s Series.
There already is plenty of interest for both events, so teams wanting to be on the grid should submit their entries as soon as possible. “Last year’s race at Barcelona was the first event for which we had to work with a waiting list, so to avoid disappointment, we strongly advise teams wanting to take part to act quickly. The same can be said for Paul Ricard,” says Daphne Gengler on behalf of Creventic. The Dutch agency is promoter and organiser of the 24H Series powered by Hankook in co-operation with DNRT (Dutch National Racing Team).
24H Circuit Paul Ricard
Last year, the Hankook 24H Circuit Paul Ricard marked the first round of the 24H Series powered by Hankook ever to be held in France, the country where motor racing started. The inaugural running of the race for GTs, touring cars and 24H Specials turned out to be a great success. It also added a new chapter to the long tradition of endurance race and test events at Circuit Paul Ricard, the beautiful, state-of-the-art facility near Le Castellet, close to the Mediterranean coast. “The proximity of the beaches, nice harbours in villages like Bandol, Cassis and La Ciotat, the excellent wine that comes from the region, the nearby city of Marseille with its international airport and last but not least the circuit itself with its excellent facilities and high safety standards all added to the success of the event.
Many people combine their participation in the race with a holiday,” Daphne Gengler explains. “Add to that the usually beautiful weather in the south of France at that time of year, and it is easy to understand why so many people are looking forward to this year’s race at Circuit Paul Ricard already!” As a result, a nice field with a good mix of cars is expected again. For the first time, spectators are admitted to the circuit for the 24-hour race as well.
24H Barcelona
Barcelona, both the circuit and the city, probably hardly need any further introduction. The Hankook 24H Barcelona have become firmly established as one of the classic 24-hour races and attract more and more competitors every year. “The great circuit, also the venue of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix and MotoGP rounds, and the great city of Barcelona itself definitely add to the popularity of the 24-hour race.
We really encourage teams to submit their entries as soon as possible to take part in the event,” Daphne Gengler says. “Last year, the first teams already managed to secure early titles in the 24H Series powered by Hankook, which also adds to the excitement of the Barcelona race. We are again expecting a great event there and we are really looking forward to it!”
