Matteo Malucelli takes pole position for Ferrari in 24 Hours of Barcelona

Malucelli put the No. 4 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 on point for the 24 hour event at Barcelona.

Matteo Malucelli has taken pole position for the 24 Hours of Barcelona this weekend, clocking in with a lap of 1:50.031. He will share the No. 4 Scuderia Praha Ferrari 458 Italia with Jiri Pisarik, Jaromir Jirik and Peter Kox.

Following the pole, Malucelli revealed that he never had a true clean lap with so many cars on course. “Of course, it is fantastic to make a comeback like this after my accident and my long recovery, I could have gone even faster"

"On my fastest lap, I overtook two cars. You never get a clear lap with 70 cars on track. A lap time of 1:49 would have been possible. The car is very well balanced in fast corners, but not ideal in the slow corners. Anyway, I am looking forward to the race. I hope it will be hot, because our car has the best handling in hot conditions.”

All Ferrari front row

The No. 4 Ferrari will share the front row with another Ferrari, the No. 32 Kessel Racing Ferrari 458 with Giacomo Piccini. The No. 1 Hofar Racing Mercedes placed third with driver Kenneth Heyer posting the fast time. 

All three cars were separated by less than half a second. The No. 6 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini and the No. 5 Simpson Motorsport Audi R8 LMS rounded out the top five.

The reamainder of the top ten was made up of the No. 24 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMZ Z4, No. 2 Car Collection Mercedes SLS AMG, No. 8 ZaWoTec Porsche 911, No. 12 GC Automobile GC 10 V8, and finally, the No. 3 Car Collection Mercedes SLS AMG
