CHARLESTON, SC (May 15, 2013) - Leh Keen is ready to take on 24 hours of racing at the famed Nürburgring with Farnbacher Racing in this weekend's 41st ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race to run May 19-20.
Keen is coming off a long week where he won the One Lap of America event, for the fourth year in a row, driving the Top Speed Motorsports Nissan GTR Pro Eight. This weekend he will be driving the Farnbacher Racing Porsche 997 GT3R.
"This is my fourth year in a row winning the One Lap with Top Speed Motorsports," Keen said. "My first year in 2010 I won and then immediately hopped on a plane to do my first 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, where we won our class and finished second overall. I am hoping for a repeat performance."
"Our goal is to run our own race and let the result come to us," he continued. "We did that in 2010, and it got us on the podium. The Nürburgring 24 is an incredible event with over 200 cars on the track. With the rough, challenging track, attrition is very common at this event. Just finishing this race is an accomplishment. I am a racer, so of course, I want to win. But we will see about that when the sun comes up on Monday."
For the2009 and 2011 GRAND-AM GT Champion, driving is one aspect. Getting enough rest when not behind the wheel of the Porsche is also important.
"I try to sleep as much as I can during the long races," Keen continued. "I try to sleep as early as possible so it doesn't catch up with me in the middle of the night. It's always hard to get calmed down and get to sleep because it seems once that happens it's time to go back in the car again. My second favorite thing to do besides driving is sleeping."
Joining Keen in the No. 24 Porsche 997 is Christina Nielsen and Tomas Pivoda. Nielsen is a young talented Danish female race car driver whom has competed with Farnbacher Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup. Pivoda is from the Czech Republic and is an accomplished open wheel competitor who will be running in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland series this season.
