JRM Racing today lodged an entry to compete in the 2013 Blancpain Endurance Series. The British squad will use the Series to further enhance performance of the renowned Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 car, which it has developed in conjunction with NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International Co. Ltd) since 2011. JRM will enter two Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 cars, one in the Pro Category with the second in the Pro-Am Category, both of which will be prepared at its Daventry (Northamptonshire) engineering base.
JRM has forged an extensive partnership with NISMO. The two teamed up prior to JRM Racing's FIA GT1 World Championship title in 2011, with JRM becoming the official development partner of the GT-R. A specialist team of engineers and experienced drivers conducted an intensive development programme throughout 2011 before the car was officially launched outside of Japan in January 2012 at Autosport International. The NISMO-JRM partnership has since continued to further develop the car for client sales.
The Blancpain Endurance Series was created in 2011 in line with current sportscar regulations with the aim to provide a serious technical challenge and allow participation of both professional and amateur racers. It quickly became one of the most popular sportscar series thanks to the variety of race formats, with three hour races combined with 24 hour endurance challenges, and an impressive calendar covering historic and modern circuits. This year's championship will again centre around the legendary 24 Hours of Spa, with further rounds in Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard and the 1000km Nurburgring Series finale.
James Rumsey, team principal of JRM Racing, commented, ‘The decision to enter the Blancpain Series has a distinct customer focus. Together with NISMO, our valued partner in the project, we have one clear aim: to ensure we have a competitive customer package that is continuously developed. The on-track performance gains will be directly passed on to our customers, who will benefit from the combined experience of NISMO's expertise in designing top quality sportscars and JRM's excellence in engineering development and race preparation.
‘In recent years we believe that Blancpain has represented the highest level of GT3 racing in Europe and has become one of the most popular sportscar championships. This level of competition ensures that teams and drivers stay sharp and the technical challenges are considerable. For these reasons it is a good opportunity to further develop the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 customer package for GT3 racing and provide the best possible support to both existing and potential customers. Our driver selection process will now commence with further announcements to follow in the coming weeks.'
