Aston Martin Nurburgring 24-Hours Qualifying

Nurburgring, 22 May 2009. Aston Martin has completed qualifying for the Nurburgring 24 hour race. In bright sunny conditions Chris Porritt qualified the factory entered V12 Vantage fourth in the SP8 class for cars with engines over 4.0 litres.

The second factory entered Aston Martin, 'Rose' also qualified fourth but in the SP10 GT4 category which is new for 2009.

Three further customer Vantage N24s entered in the SP10 GT4 category qualified second, third and fifth respectively.

The highly modified Team Schrick V8 Vantage which was entered in the SP5 class failed to qualify leaving the five remaining Aston Martins to start the race on Saturday.

Aston Martin's Head of Motorsport, David King said: "We ran a conservative qualifying strategy today with the emphasis on looking after our cars and not taking any great risks.

We had no problems and the drivers were happy to complete some dry laps after yesterday's wet qualifying session.

The team really appreciate the new improved race weekend format which allows a rest evening on Friday rather than a late qualifying session as has been the case in previous years and we are looking forward to a great race tomorrow."

The 37th ADAC Nurburgring 24 hour race begins at 4pm local time (3pm GMT) on 23 May 2009.
