12H Hungary ready for the start!
(26th of September 2008) After all the preparations at the spectacular "Hungaroring" F1 Circuit, the teams will take to the track for the first time today. Tomorrow, Saturday September 27th, 20 cars with teams from 13 different nationalities will participate in the 2nd round of the 2008 TOYO TIRES 24H Series.
Among the drivers who will be taking part in the 12H Hungary 2008, several have made name in touring cars, sportscars and GTs, like Dutch drivers Cor Euser and Jaap van Lagen, German "ace" Claudia Hurtgen and Hongarian Kalman Bodis.
The participating cars in the 12H Hungary 2008 have been divided into six different classes. As often in endurance racing, Porsche and BMW have the strongest entries, but in the smaller classes Ford, Honda and Suzuki are also present. The Diesels are either Seats or BMW 120D. In the special class SP2, there will be a Ferrari F430, a Ford Mustang and a Brokernet Silversting. These cars have a minimum weight to power ratio of 3.7 kg/hp. Special attention will go out to the Audi CR-8, the racing version of Audi's R8 sports car, which has been developed by Creventic BV, organisers of the 12H Hungary 2008.
Today, Friday September 26th, the event started with two regularity tests on the track by more than 20 classic cars. These classic beauties can be admired in the paddock during the event. The 12Hour participants will have their free practice this afternoon, followed by qualifying at 5.15 p.m. This evening there will be a practice session so that the drivers get to know the track at night as the last three hours of the race will be run in the dark
Starting procedure begins on Saturday morning at 09.00 hours with the race starting at 10.00. Finish will be at 22.00 hours
