João Barbosa finishes the 1000km of Silverstone on the podium
What it was a slow start of the weekend ended up being the best result of the year for João Barbosa and the Rollcentre team.
During the practice sessions and qualifying the setup of the Pescarolo was never very good. The team was having a difficult time to setup the car correctly and making the Dunlop tires work at their best.
The Rollcentre team was changing the setup every session. Stuart was in charge of qualifying the car in his home race and found out the car was still difficult to drive. Finally for the warm up it seems that the team was back on track being able to make the Dunlop tires work better, so the race looks promising.
Stuart was in charge of starting the race even if in the first corner thinks looked "scary" he slowly was making ground up to 7th place.
Going through the race with a good and consistent pace, in 5th place on the last hour, João Barbosa was able to capitalise on the reliability of the Pescarolo and on his last stint, with the luck that was missing in the last few races, some of the opponents suffered problems and the Rollcentre team moved up to 3rd place overall!
João Barbosa comments the weekend: "it was a slow start but the team did a fantastic job in preparing a reliable car. We had a consistent pace, the Dunlop tires worked great in the race, and at the end it paid off. We have been so close in the last races of getting into the podium and this is the way we all wanted to end our season in the Le Mans Series.
Unfortunately Rollcentre will not go to Interlagos. It's a race I would love to do. I've been in every race of this series since their beginning, and unless there's an invitation from another team, looks that I will miss one!!"
