OAK Racing to run Morgan-Judd chassis in 2012

OAK Racing press release

OAK Racing will launch an assault on this year's European Le Mans Series with a pair of Judd-powered 2012 Morgan LMP2s following confirmation today of the re-branded championship's entry list.

The team tasted success in the category during 2010 when both OAK Racing prototypes finished amongst the top five in the LMP2 class, celebrating podium finishes at Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps, the Hungaroring and Silverstone in the process.

They will return to the pan-European championship this year with their new 2012 Morgan LMP2, which has been designed by the team’s constructor division Onroak Automotive at their Technoparc des 24 Heures base in Le Mans.

OAK Racing's ELMS effort will run alongside their already-announced World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours programmes, confirming the French squad’s status as one of endurance racing’s foremost privateer outfits.

Jacques Nicolet, OAK Racing Team Owner and Driver: “I am extremely pleased that we will be contesting the European Le Mans Series with our 2012 Morgan LMP2s. OAK Racing began its journey in the category, achieving a great many podium finishes along the way, so there is a feeling of returning to our roots with this announcement.

“LMP2 now represents the premier class and we are determined to fight for overall victrories from the outset. Alongside our World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours campaigns, the European Le Mans Series will be a perfect proving ground for the new car.”

The ELMS comprises five events across Europe, beginning at Paul Ricard on April 1, and in 2012 sees the 13-strong LMP2 class become the category’s premier division. OAK Racing’s full driver line-up for the series will be announced at a later date.
