Miguel Pais do Amaral and teammate, France's Olivier Pla, today won a clear victory in the 1,000 Km race at Nurburgring, at the wheel of Portugal's Quifel ASM Team Ginetta-Zytek 09S, putting them just one point away from winning the title in the LMP2 category of the Le Mans Series Championship with just one more race to go, at Silverstone on 13th September.

"It was a race in which we were able to keep an eye on our adversaries from the beginning to the end," explained an obviously happy Antonio Simões, who noted that everything had gone to perfection. "The car's tuning, the tyres, the driver's turns, the pit stops, everything went smoothly, confirming the team's excellent form," Antonio Simões added, for whom, "it's only a shame that Racing Box's Lola 29 ended the race in 2nd, thus preventing us from celebrating the title today."

Although he is confident of the Portuguese team's superiority, driver Miguel Pais do Amaral prefers to remember that, "we are still a point short of the title and it's better to win again at Silverstone, in the last race, to end the championship on a high."
