THE PIRELLI-FERRARI DUO WIN AT THE 2007 "1000 KM OF MONZA"
Two 430 GTCs on PZero Racings take first and second place in the GT2 class of the Monza marathon, first round in the Le Mans Series.
Four out of the first five cars on the Milan manufacturer's tires.
Monza, 15 April 2007 With the success of the Ferrari 430 GTCs campaigned by Team GPC Sport and Villorba Corse, Pirelli Competizioni has begun the 2007 season of the Le Mans Series in the best possible way. The PZero Racing-fitted Ferraris led for most of the race and at the end, the 430 GTC driven by De Simone-Bonneti-Hernandez claimed the win, followed in second by another 430 GTC piloted by Zardo-Caffi. The victory and claim to the first five finishing positions rewards the development work carried out by Pirelli and its teams. The always brilliant Panoz Esperante GTLM-Pirelli of Team LNT, piloted by Kimber Smith-Watts took fourth place followed by a 430 GTC, driven by Drudi-Mowlem-Rosa, on Pirelli PZero Racing tires.
Pirelli Competizioni director, Paul Hembery, said, "We are very happy with the results of this first great endurance race of the 2007 Le Mans Series. This is further proof of the high degree of competitiveness of the new, soft compound PZero Racings, which clearly dominated the competition. Winning again with Ferrari and setting the fastest lap with Porsche also confirm the ability of Pirelli to offer products especially developed for cars which are so very different from one another. Given the large number of entrants in the GT2 class, this is a fantastic start to a very demanding year."
