Valuable points at inaugural race for Kruse Motorsport
Three weeks of hard work paid off today with 5th place performance for Kruse Motorsport at the inaugural race of Le Mans Series in Monza. The #44 Pescarolo Judd V8 showed a great mechanical stability and without a tyre puncture that damaged the underbody the team could have even achieved a podium. Team owner Ian Mitchell commended the team's progress and said "for such a new program, it's a tremendous result to be in the Top 5 in the first race of the season."
Team Manager Kai Kruse added: "To be honest, this result is in fact more than we expected after having experienced many little obstacles during the tests. To gain points at the beginning of the season is always important. We're reasonably pleased with the outcome and our progress."
Norbert Siedler (Driver): "We definitely have to find some speed until the next race, but at least we saw the checkered flag and achieved 4 points. The most important lesson for me was, that the team managed to sort out all the little sources of error and closed the gap to the front runners."
Jean de Pourtales (Driver): "I am very happy for this result, as this was my first Endurance race. Considering we had a tyre failure that caused a damaged underbody we could have even done better. Anyway, we can be optimistic for the future and I am sure we will soon be in a position to fight for top results."
Tony Burgess (Driver): "A good result for the first event, given the small amount of time the team had, to shake down the car after final assembly. I had two good stints in the car with each lap I gained more experience and confidence. At the next race we should be ready to compete for the podium."
