The LMP1 C60-H Judd Advan in fifth although better was possible
After very interesting free practice sessions on Friday and saterday, qualifying started this afternoon on a dry track. In the LMP1 category the C60- H Judd Advan with JM Gounon, C. Vann and Alexander Frei qualified fifth although a place on the second row was possible.
Jean Marc Gounon : " I was very pleased with the set up of the car and the behaviour of the Advan tires. During the free practices we were able to ameliorate the car, which we showed with the lap times. In the beginning of the qualifying I think I flat spotted a front tire that made the car unstable. We decided to change that tire following the qualifying rules. It went better but wasn't optimal. I honestly think that I could have done better and that the place next to the Pescarolo C 60- H should have been ours. Anyway we have a very good car and the race will certainly be interesting. A podium is possible. "
Yves Courage: " Too bad from that small mistake but all in all I'm happy with the progress the team and our tire partner, The Yokohama Ru bber Company, Ltd , have made this weekend. We found an ideal race set up fitting our 3 drivers so I am awaiting a good result in the race. "
The LMP2 C65 in pole position in LMP2
The C65 remains one of the fastest cars in LMP2. After the pole position in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Belmondo Racing Team again did the fastest lap time in qualifying for the Monza race, with their n°37 driven by Didier André, proving the overall speed and handling of Courage Competition's LMP2 the C65.
Yves Courage : " The C65, LMES champion of 2004 in LMP2 , remains one of the most competitive cars in this class. After Le Mans it has the pole again, wonderful. I am extremely happy for the Belmondo Team. They even have 2 cars in the top 3. I hope they will have more luck in the race than in Le Mans and wish them all the best. Our other customer cars are performing well also as I see that 3 C65's are in the top 6. After the victory last week of the Courage C65 from Miracle in Lime Rock in the ALMS, I hope to see one of our customer teams doing the same here in the LMES. The start is promising."
The race starts Sunday 10th July at 12h30 local time.
