Imola, Italy – For the second consecutive race in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), Bayshore Recycling ambassadors Frankie Montecalvo and Gunnar Jeannette finished on the podium. During today’s Three Hours of Imola, the American duo finished in third place for Ram Racing.
This also marks the second consecutive ELMS round for Ram Racing to score two podium finishes. The No. 52 sister Ferrari of Johnny Mowlem and Matt Griffin finished first in the LM GTE class, earning Ram Racing’s first victory in ELMS competition.Gunnar Jeannette qualified the No. 53 Ram Racing Ferrari 458 Italia third in the LM GTE class, for the three-hour event. Jeannette would then drive the opening stint while Montecalvo would take over for the run to the checkered flag.
The Bayshore duo battled through the competition. During Jeannette’s stint he climbed into second position before handing the race car over to Montecalvo.
Montecalvo, with minimal track time and limited experience on the 3.05-mile, 22-turn circuit, maintained the second place run and lead laps as the field cycled through pit stops.
In the closing laps, there was a minor off-course incident with Montecalvo behind the wheel. He returned to the circuit in third position. Charging through the final moments of the three-hour event, Montecalvo ran out of time to regain second place and crossed the finish line third in class.
Next up for Bayshore Racing is Round Three of the five-race European Le Mans Series. Montecalvo and Jeannette head to Austria and The Red Bull Ring in July.
