JOTA retains Tincknell for third successive ELMS campaign

Tincknell, who has been the standout LMP2 performer in the series for the past two seasons, will join recent signing Giedo dan Der Garde and fellow team regular Simon Dolan.

Racing the familiar Gibson 015S chassis for a third ELMS campaign, the 24 year-old, who has been left without a regular drive after the withdrawal of the Nissan LMP1 programme, has claimed two wins and five pole positions in the ELMS since making his debut at Silverstone in 2014.

JOTA just missed out on the ELMS title at both the 2014 and 2015 finales to Signatech Alpine and Greaves Motorsport respectively. Tincknell, along with van der Garde and Dolan, will aim to take the elusive title in 2016.

"I'm delighted to have re-signed with JOTA Sport for a third consecutive year," said Tincknell. "We've had a lot of success together over the past two seasons and I believe we've grown stronger as a team each year.

"My aim is to win the European Le Mans Series Championship title. We've come really close for the past two years and we need to nail it this year – and I firmly believe we can.

"The atmosphere at JOTA is absolutely fantastic and the team is going from strength to strength. It's great to be working with Simon again. He definitely had his best year of racing in 2015 and we work very closely together.

"I feel Simon and I, together with Giedo [van der Garde], can take another step forward in 2016 and bring home the championship."

Tincknell is not believed to be part of JOTA Sport's FIA WEC plans in the British teams' new ORECA 05 contender which is currently being readied for pre-season testing.

Motorsport.com understands that the Allan McNish-managed driver is actively pursuing possibilities with other teams for the 2016 FIA WEC season.
