Gravity-Charouz Racing ready for Spa-Francorchamps
Our goals are still the same. We would like to finish regularly in the top five.
The Gravity-Charouz Racing team is set to make its second appearance in Formula Renault 3.5 at the 2011 World Series by Renault this weekend. With a two-car entry for drivers Jan Charouz and Brendon Hartley the Luxembourg-Czech team will participate in the second round of World Series by Renault in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium.
At the opening round of the nine-race series at Motorland Aragon in Spain, the Gravity-Charouz team made its debut. Both drivers, Jan Charouz (CZ) and Brendon Hartley (NZ) were on the pace, but their results didn’t meet expectations. Jan Charouz commented: “Our goals are still the same. We would like to finish regularly in the top five.”
In preparation for Spa-Francorchamps, Gravity-Charouz Racing completed a one-day test session at the Czech Brno circuit. On Tuesday the drivers had to cope with difficult conditions: on account of showers the track was wet and the temperature around 10°C.
Brendon Hartley said: “Conditions haven’t been ideal for tests, but on the other hand we have driven in wet conditions and that could be useful in Spa. The car performed well on the wet track, however we will have to see in free practice where we are relative to our rivals.”
Both Gravity-Charouz Racing team’s drivers know Spa-Francorchamps circuit: Jan Charouz started here within the Le Mans Series and Auto GP; Brendon Hartley in the 2010 World Series by Renault.
All World Series by Renault races are broadcast live on Eurosport. The 1st race starts on Saturday 30 April at 14:30 (Eurosport 2), the 2nd race on 1 May at 12:45 (Eurosport).
