Courage Competition's new C60-H and The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd. in pole position.

At the end of the Official LMES 2 days test at the HTTT Paul Ricard track in Le Castellet ( France), Courage Competition's new C60-H LMP1 on ADVAN tyres from The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd proved to be fastest overall.

The objective for this test was to make up for the lost time on the tyre development programme due to the bad weather conditions in January and February. Courage Competition and The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd. tested different structures of ADVAN tyres on the first day and different compounds on the second day.

After the first day the new C60-H did already the best time. With a time of 1.39.786 done by Jonathan Cochet around 20h00, the Courage LMP1 was the first car to dive under the 1.40's.

Yves Courage commented after the first day : "We know that we have a fast and reliable car but to be honest I thought we would be a little faster today. The tyre evaluation programme is well underway and tomorrow we will go faster. We also have to work further on the shock absorbers which we will do soon".

On the second day Jonathan Cochet set the fastest time of 1.39.469 at 11h00. Jonathan Cochet : "It's a fabulous car and the ADVAN tyres of The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd. perform well. As I had to overtake other cars on the track I lost some time in my fastest lap. I honestly think I could have done a 1.39.00".

Yves Courage's conclusion of the test : " These 2 days were very interesting for us. We were fastest and we did the complete tyre evaluation programme that The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd. developed for us. Our drivers had enough time in the car. We also tested two other drivers, Dominik Schwager and Sinji Nakano - part of the tyre evaluation programme. We didn't change a lot on the car and we had the chance to test some inner parts on reliability. I'm happy with the outcome but we know that the competition won't stand still and we will work further on the car and the tyres in order to remain in front!"

The Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd. and Courage Competition entered a partnership in which the Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd. will supply Courage Competition with ADVAN race tyres during the 2005 "24 hours of Le Mans" and the 2005 LMES Championship.

More news on this partnership will be communicated soon.
