The Portuguese Quifel ASM Team managed second place today in the LMP2 class in Barcelona in the first race of the Le Mans Series

The Quifel ASM team's Zytek 09 surprised once again in the Le Mans series by reaching above average performance levels and managing to finish between the Racing Box's two Lolla-Judds after 6 hours racing. In the general classification which included LMP1 and GT classes, the Quifel ASM Team finished in eighth place. Importantly, the Quifel ASM Team's car clocked the best lap of the race in the LMP2 class with 1.37.6.

In fact, the Portuguese could have reached first place, if they hadn't had problems with the starter motor at the last pit-stop, which were resolved but which stopped the Quifel ASM Team from snatching the longed-for victory.

Drivers Miguel Pais do Amaral and Olivier Pla were on top form, managing to maintain their initial starting grid position, after finishing yesterday's qualifying session with the second best time in the LMP 2 class, only 17 hundredths of a second behind Racing Box's Lolla-Judd that won the race today.

With this good performance in Barcelona, the Quifel ASM Team have started the season in the best way possible with 8 points for the second race of the Le Mans Series, which will take place on 10 May in SPA in Belgium.
