Final testing before the start of the ELMS

With alternative fuels and energies quite popular in racing these days (Le Mans has an extra, non-points awarding, entry devoted to exactly this), Motorsport.com thought it would be fun to explore the ultimate alternative energy sourced racer.

The European Le Mans Series teams were able t complete two days of testing to prepare for the season opener.

The new team making its debut in the ELMS makes a splash with the quickest time at the Castellet.

The 6 Hours of Silverstone will be the first real FIA WEC test of the year before the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, and the hybrid war between Audi and Toyota will be there too.

Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues, the two drivers who will share the car at every round of the ELMS, will be joined for the Le Mans 24 Hours by Tristan Gommendy.

Thirty cars and ten different nationalities to start the first ELMS round.

The young driver joins fellow American Gunnar Jeannette for the five-round series.

"Le Mans remains an important objective for us and we are starting the work today to be there in 2014 in accordance with our ambitions," explains Dominique Heintz, team manager.

Soheil Ayari and Anthony Pons will share one of three ORECA-FLM 09 entered in the ELMS. Alex Loan and Matthieu Lecuyer have also been selected by Team Endurance Challenge.

Famous Scottish squad confirms European Le Mans Series and British GT campaign.

On Friday 8th March, the French make announced its Le Mans 24-Hours comeback in the LM P2 category. The Automobile Club de l’Ouest is very happy about this entry 35 years after the Alpine-Renault A442B’s famous victory in 1978.

As reported earlier in the week, the famous Renault brand Alpine will be returning to sportscars this year. It's official.
