Zandvoort DTM: Farfus snatches pole position

Mercedes’ Gary Paffett set the pace for much of the session with a laptime of 1m31.636s, just clear of Antonio Felix da Costa’s BMW.

Farfus grabbed pole with 1m31.266s with 1m27s left on the clock. Reigning champion Marco Wittmann will start second in his BMW, setting his 1m31.274s just before Paul di Resta crashed out, having run wide onto the grass and then into the gravel.

Di Resta’s off effectively ended the session, as quicker times couldn’t be set under yellows.

Da Costa will start third, ahead of Maxime Martin.

Paffett dropped to fifth, just pipping the best-placed Audi of points leader Jamie Green. Timo Glock will start seventh, ahead of Tom Blomqvist and Bruno Spengler.

Audi's Mattias Ekstrom, who is second in the championship, will start down in 19th.
