Just before the Mercedes Stars & Cars day in Stuttgart tomorrow, McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen tried out a Mercedes DTM car for size. Raikkonen drove the AMG C-Class for fun but the ever-competitive Finn was not far off the top times clocked in the last DTM race at Hockenheim in October.
Raikkonen's compatriot, and ex-McLaren driver, Mika Hakkinen was also behind the wheel of a Mercedes DTM at Lausitz recently. The former double F1 champion is rumoured to be considering a return to racing with Mercedes in the DTM next season.
The Stars & Cars Day at the DaimlerChrysler plant at Stuttgart-Untert?rkheim is the traditional end of season event for Mercedes. Raikkonen will take part in a race simulator competition and the McLaren team will compete against a DTM crew in a pit stop showdown.
McLaren drivers David Coulthard, Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Wurz will also be present, along with Mercedes DTM stars Bernd Schneider, Christijan Albers, Gary Paffett and Jean Alesi. Visitors will be able to meet the drivers for autograph sessions.
Other highlights include a demonstration of past and present racing cars. The event is open to the public from 10.00am to 16.00pm.
