DTM promises excitment, August 6 at Sachsenring

It is three years ago that current Opel-star-driver Joachim Winkelhock could celebrate a double victory here in his BMW 320i. "The Sachsenring has its special flair," says the German, who rececntly collected a DTM- victory at the Norisring in his Opel V8 Coupe. "The track is like a mini Nordschleife, with many different corners and up-and-down sections. It provides a challenge for the drivers and a lot of excitment for the spectators." AT the Sachsenring, near Chemnitz, the seventh and eighth race of the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) take place, August 6.

After the spectacular opening rounds in Hockenheim and Oschersleben and a breathtaking thriller at the Norisring in Nuremberg, Bernd Schneider (Mercedes Benz) is coming to the Sachsenring as championship leader, with only three points' advantage over Opel-driver Manuel Reuter.

Extended television coverage: ARD on air for almost two hours. The first German tv-channel ARD will double its airtime compared to the Oschersleben round. Plenty of DTM action will be shown frm 15:05 till 17:00. An extensive report on the first race, background stories and live coverage of the second race from 15:45 omward are planned.

The number of tv-viewers and spectators at the track are quite satisfying after the first three rounds: tv-coverage reached an average audience of 17,2 million people, an average of 76,333 fans watched the DTM live at the tracks.
