Third free practice session - quotes
Free practice session number three was strongly influenced by the changing wheather conditions. In the beginning the track was dry, with the exception of the "Grundig Hairpin" and the "Dutzendteich-Kurve". But during the last third of the session light rain started to fall, causing a lot of action like tyre changes in the pit lane. The only victim of these conditions was Mercedes driver Alexander Grau, who lost control at the exit of the "Schoeller-S" and hit the wall. While his car suffered some damages, Grau himself wasn't injured at all.
9 - Manuel Reuter "I could have been the fastest of the session, but unfortunately it just started to rain, when I went out. I don't mind, if the conditions during Top Qualifying and the race are dry or wet. I will fight anyway as I always do."
19 - Michael Bartels I'm quite happy with my car and won't change anything for Top Qualifying. Particularly, as it was not possible to improve the set-up under these conditions.
10 - Yannick Dalmas "It's very difficult to achieve a good lap, when it's rainy like today, because the track is very, very slippery. Nevertheless I hope for the same weather this afternoon. This would give an advantage to our four wheel drive Calibras and I personally don't mind, under which conditions I'm racing."
12 - Michele Alboreto "My car is getting better and better. I hope on dry conditions for this afternoon, we don't need a special advantage. Our car is the best anyway."
14 - Bernd Schneider "Its really not worth while going out under track conditions like this. Half dry and half wet, its absolute rubbish. Totally dry or even totally wet would be okay to work on the set-up. But there's no question, I want dry conditions, that's why the sun will be shining tomorrow."
6 - Kurt Thiim "Since yesterday we've changed a lot to the rear axle, the guys worked until half past three this morning. And this we made a lot of progress. We should have looked at the front axle, which still needs improvement. But before we could do this, the rain started to fall. Now we've got to gamble on finding a good balance.
