One week after the 2005 DTM season kick-off, held from 15th to 17th April, at Hockenheim, DTM is going to present itself at Frankfurt/Oder. On Saturday, 23rd April, the motor racing enthusiasts will have the chance of witnessing a truly extraordinary motor racing event.
From 10:00 to 16:00hrs, the DTM will be in the centre of the public's focus between the Karl-Marx-Straße and Frankfurt's Polish partner city, Slubice, with the highlight of the day being demonstration drives from Frankfurt, across the Oder-Bridge, to Slubice.
"With this event, DTM is crossing borders," explains ITR Chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht. "For the first time, DTM will present itself in two countries at the same time. The demonstration drives to the new EU member Poland clearly underlines DTM's international orientation."
The DTM Motorsport Day will be held under the patronage of Matthias Platzeck, Prime Minister of Germany's province Brandenburg. "I was truly delighted by the idea," said Platzeck, "Particularly as it doesn't promote DTM alone."
"The action day in the region of the EuroSpeedway Lausitz demonstrates at the same time the connection with Germany's most modern circuit. And I think it's just great that DTM goes to meet the motor racing and EuroSpeedway enthusiasts at home - even in Poland."
In addition to the DTM car demonstration drives, the visitors may look forward to a diversified support programme. The paddock will be erected in the Karl-Marx-Straße. There, the enthusiasts will have the chance of getting very close to the 500bhp cars. Close to the paddock, there will be a massive show stage where the drivers will be interviewed and are going to sign autographs.
Furthermore, DTM's partner series will also use the Motorsport Day to present themselves, and the River Oder will be the venue of speedboat demonstrations. And in the evening, a major open-air party with live music will be the icing on the cake of this motorsport action day for the entire family.
Only one week later, the DTM enthusiasts will have the chance of witnessing the entire DTM action in anger. From 29th April to 1st May, the EuroSpeedway Lausitz will be the venue of the 2005 DTM season's second round.
