Wiesbaden. Just 140 days after the start of its YouTube channel, DTM has reached a milestone, with this offer. In the night to 18th September, the most popular international touring-car series broke the barrier of one million views. And a few days ago, DTM’s YouTube-Channel that comprises a German and an international channel recorded its 25,000th subscriber.
“We are delighted with the positive response of the fans to our YouTube-Channel, particularly with the response of our fans abroad. This encourages us when it comes to our work and motivates us to keep on improving this channel permanently,” said Hans Werner Aufrecht, Chairman of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V.
More than 80 percent of the views were executed via the international channel. There, the DTM fans and motor-racing enthusiasts worldwide have got the opportunity to not only view the special YouTube content, onboard pictures and roundups. In countries without own DTM coverage, they also are provided with a live-stream coverage of the qualifying sessions and the races. The German channel provides qualifying and race in full length with the comment of the track announcer as re-live version just a short time after the respective session. So, those fans that couldn’t follow the live coverage of DTM’s German TV partner ARD can view the action comfortably at home or even while being on the road.
On 1st May, 2013 - in time for the season kick-off - DTM started its YouTube channel in cooperation with _wige group and Athletia Sports, the sports network of ’Mediakraft’. With this step, DTM simultaneously addresses new spectator groups and provides its fans - in addition to the popular offer of DTM.tv - additional moving pictures. Just two and a half weeks after the start, during the race at Brands Hatch, the 10,000-subscriber barrier was broken. Altogether, an average of 7,200 videos was accessed per day, since the start of the channel, representing 300 views per hour.
With 200,000 views, a compilation of the most spectacular DTM crashes is the most popular video to date. The season kick-off at Hockenheim was viewed re-live 83,000 times and the Norisring round nearly 75,000 times. The average length of stay adds up to 6:25 minutes at the German and even 9:46 minutes at the international channel. The re-live videos are constantly watched by the users for 15 to 20 minutes at a stretch and the live coverage even from 27 to 30 minutes.
