o DTM debut of the Audi S5 as Safety Car
o Royal visit at Audi's customer team Futurecom-TME

Ingolstadt/Hockenheim -- At the DTM season opener at Hockenheim the spotlight on Audi was not only focused on the sporting action. Prominent visitors and numerous activities complemented the brand's impressive PR showing.

Three members of the board of AUDI AG witnessed the race live at the Hockenheim circuit. Rupert Stadler, the chairman of the board was present, as was his new board colleague for Sales and Marketing Peter Schwarzenbauer and Michael Dick, board member for Technical Development.

In addition, numerous prominent guests from show business and society had come to Hockenheim to watch Audi's performance. On Sunday, the Austrian pop and rock singer Christina Sturmer visited pole sitter Timo Scheider at his garage in the pit lane. Klaus-Jurgen "Knacki" Deuser from the NightWash TV comedy show came to Hockenheim at the personal invitation of Audi Top Service. Django Asul was another comedian hosted by Audi. Actor Fritz Wepper, surgeon Prof Dr Werner Mang and Germany's top sailor Jochen Schumann watched the racing action at the Hockenheimring as well.

Royal visitors were received by the Audi customer team Futurecom-TME: Oba Erediauwa, King of Benim, a kingdom in the south-west of present-day Nigeria, watched the race at the team garage of Katherine Legge and Christijan Albers.

Harry Unflath, Head of Marketing of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, celebrated his 46th birthday on the day of the race.

For the "Wunschdirwas" campaign that fulfils the dearest wishes of seriously ill children, Mattias Ekstrom made a dream come true. After the qualifying practice, the DTM champion welcomed twelve-year-old Maximilian Brand. The young racing fan not only personally met his idol, but was able to peek behind the scenes of the pit lane, an opportunity not normally available to public visitors.

The new Audi A4 DTM was not the only car to celebrate its debut at Hockenheim: the new Audi S5 was used as the DTM safety car for the first time.

Although there are no more morning warm-up sessions in the 2008 DTM, Hans-Jurgen Abt had to rise early on Sunday morning: the team director of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, together with ADAC sport president Hermann Tomczyk, presented the awards at the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup podium ceremony. For the past decade, Abt has been preparing the cars for Volkswagen's school for junior touring car racers, which ran its 100th race at Hockenheim.

At the "Audi Drive Away" two sales regions of AUDI AG used the DTM as an attractive setting for dealer activities: the "West" and "South-West" regions each handed over 25 Audi A4 Convertibles to the brand's dealerships.
