Renger van der Zande achieved two podium finishes in as many days at the Olympic stadion, topping off a great weekend with another series of impressive drives at the Munich venue. The Dutchman was rightfully delighted with the results, fending off stiff competition to add another well-deserved trophy to his collection.
"You could tell everyone was a little more accustomed to the course today," said van der Zande. "Every race was very close, except the first. I won that by over two seconds. In the pre-final I went against Edoardo Mortara. In the first two races we were very evenly matched and we stayed within one tenth of each other, but in the decisive third race I lost a second in the pit-stop. And that time lost was exactly what I lacked at the finish."
"I still gave it everything, even tapped the wall a few times, but I could not catch him. Too bad, but I had some great fun. It was a fantastic event."
