Abt, Scheider and Schneider present the DTM at the Deutschland-Rallye

In St. Wendel in the Saarland region, there will be a very special encounter on August 24 and 25: at the occasion of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, the DTM is presenting itself to the thousands of spectators with various activities. Before the rally aces will be taking on the Super Special round track at the tenth round of the World Rally Championship on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning, the DTM is offering a show programme with demonstration laps of DTM race cars and powerslide actions with historic rally cars, with autograph sessions and interviews. A very special attraction surely will be the chance for the fans to win a passenger ride in one of the DTM race cars.

A total of 200,000 spectators are expected on the three days of the German WRC round between Trier, St. Wendel and the military training ground of Baumholder, when rally stars like Carlos Sainz, Tommi Mäkinen, Richard Burns or four times' German rally champion Matthias Kahle will be competing for victory and championship points. The demonstration laps of the DTM drivers at the round track are taking place on Saturday from 17.10 till 17.40 and on Sunday from 11.30 till 12.00. The Abt-Audi TT-R will be driven by Christian Abt, the Opel Astra V8 Coupé will be driven by Timo Scheider.

Saarland-born Bernd Schneider will be behind the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz CLK-DTM." I am really looking forward to our DTM-appearance, as in the Saarland, I still have many friends and relatives", says the DTM-champion and promises:" We will provide great entertainment for the spectators and we will have plenty of time for autographs and racing talk."

On the way to the Super Special in St. Wendel, the teams will place their trucks, where the DTM cars can be seen from up close before and after the demonstration laps. The anchorman of DTM Fan TV, Stefan Moser, will be interviewing the DTM stars and the two motorsport directors of Opel and Mercedes-Benz, Volker Strycek and Norbert Haug. Following a request from the organising ADAC, the DTM motorsport directors will provide a powerslide demonstration during the first WRC round in Germany. Strycek, the DTM-champion of 1984, will be driving the legendary Opel Ascona 400, Ari Vatanen's car of 1983, Haug will be driving the 1979 Mercedes-Benz 500 SLC.
