Scheider on the podium, misfortune for Ekstrom
DTM: With a third-place finish at Brands Hatch Timo Scheider advanced to fourth place in the DTM standings. The title defender started from position three and put pressure on the leader of the standings, Bruno Spengler, on 60 laps. He only lost a bit of ground after the second pit stop. DTM rookie Miguel Molina pushed forward from ninth to fourth place with an impressive performance. Oliver Jarvis, Martin Tomczyk and Alexandre Premat clinched points as well. Mattias Ekstrom was hit on the left rear wheel by Ralf Schumacher in turn one and forced to retire.
Audi duo takes lead of the standings
GT Spain: The Portuguese Cesar Campanico and João Pedro Figueiredo occupied second place in the GTS category at the Spanish GT Championship round at Estoril, Portugal, in their Audi R8 LMS. The duo from the Novadriver Total team thus took the lead of the standings after four of six race weekends.
Ekstrom Junior clinches two podium places
JTCC: Kevin Engman celebrated two podium places on the fifth race weekend of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship (JTCC) at the Jyllandsringen in Denmark. In round one the youngster from the Ekstrom Junior team only had to admit defeat to Rasmus Mårthen (SEAT). In the second race the 20-year-old Swede confirmed his good form in his Audi A3 and finished as the runner-up again.
Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller, the 2010 Le Mans winners at the wheel of the Audi R15 TDI, will contest the "Petit Le Mans" race on October 2 in a Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid ... Audi "factory" driver Mattias Ekstrom will participate in another NASCAR test in the USA next week, followed by a race at the Richmond Oval on Saturday.
