Audi and Mercedes-Benz will also be involved in the DTM beyond the year 2006. This was declared by the two premium manufacturers Audi and Mercedes-Benz at the occasion of the season highlight of the DTM at the Norisring in Nuremberg.

"This is good news for the DTM fans" said Hermann Tomczyk, deputy chairman of the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB). "The DTM is providing great motor racing at the highest level and is being highly regarded all over the world. The fact that Audi and Mercedes-Benz are already now committing themselves to the DTM on the long term is a clear signal to the partners and to other car manufacturers to benefit from the successful DTM platform in the future as well.

The fact that the world's two best premium car manufacturers are involved in the DTM on the long term shows how convincing and good our concept is, and that it is working", says Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of the ITR e.V. (Internationale Tourenwagen Rennen e.V.), the promoter and the rightholder of the DTM. "The DTM is providing spectacular motor racing at the highest level for the spectators, and that with affordable costs. In hardly any other series, manufacturers can find better value for money."

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Audi Motorsport director): "The DTM is the most popular international touring car series, the pinnacle in touring car racing. This suits the Audi brand in an excellent way. For a manufacturer, the DTM provides excellent value for money. That means: you get a lot in return for your resources. It has shown that the spectators want to see spectacular touring cars at the highest level and that is what the DTM is offering them."

Norbert Haug (Mercedes-Benz Motorsport director): "During the course of the last six years the DTM has developed remarkably. The series offers the spectator interesting sport and an attractive programme. An increasing number of visitors at the race tracks and high TV ratings prove that the concept to focus on the spectators worked out well."

"The technical regulations provide the basis for justifiable cost and the media coverage guarantees an unequalled cost/performance ratio. Thus the DTM remains an excellent stage for the premium brand Mercedes-Benz. By confirming our engagement for next year together with our competitor Audi today, we provide for consistency of the series and planning reliability for our partners."
