DTM Debut at the Adriatic Sea

The second round of the 2003 DTM this weekend is the first international event at the new Adria International Raceway near Venice, Italy. During test days in March, the DTM drivers had the opportunity to learn the 2.702-km long track.

The circuit: An exceptional feature of the Adria International Raceway is the covered paddock which is located in a huge shed. The short and twisty track offers few overtaking opportunities, and with the expected high temperatures it will be a real challenge especially for the drivers' fitness.

Bernd Schneider: "I was impressed by the compact and up-to-date facilities of the Adria Raceway. I look forward to racing in a country with so many enthusiastic motorsport fans."

Jean Alesi: "I already received many letters from fans telling me how much they look forward to this race. And so do I," says the Frenchman with Sicilian roots.

The DTM in Italy: Between 1994 and 1996, DTM and ITC raced already three times in Italy. Mercedes-Benz drivers won five out of these six races in Mugello. Bernd Schneider clinched two victories whilst Dario Franchitti, Kurt Thiim and Jörg van Ommen won one race each.

As in Hockenheim, Patrick Huisman will drive the Rosberg team's second Mercedes-Benz CLK-DTM.
