6th Abt Racing Show in Kempten: Celebrating with the DTM-champions
Anyone believing that the 2002 motorsport season is over after the ten exciting rounds of the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) should now make a note about this event: from October 25 till 27, the Abt Racing Show will be taking place in Kempten. And after the DTM title win by Abt driver Laurent Aiello, this year's sixth edition of the big celebration in the Allgäu will become a real champions' party with all five DTM-drivers of the Team Abt Sportsline. Moreover, the world's leading tuning company for cars from the Volkswagen concern will also be showing highlights from its product portfolio and there will also be many show activities involving Abt Sportsline and its partner. Access at the Daimlerstrasse is free on all three days.
The newly-crowned champion is personally inviting to Kempten: "I have fond memories of the great atmosphere two years ago. Now, I would be pleased when as many fans as possible would come to the Racing Show to celebrate the championship with my fellow drivers, my team and me", says Laurent Aiello, who will be present in the Allgäu region on Saturday and Sunday. "I know exactly how well one can celebrate at Abt and I am already curious to find out what they will come up with." Next to the champion, his team mates Christian Abt, Mattias Ekström, Martin Tomczyk and Karl Wendlinger will also be available for autographs and interviews on all three days. Some other DTM-drivers, like former champion Bernd Schneider, also have announced their coming.
Several cars on display will create the appropriate motorsport atmosphere around Abt Sportsline GmbH's impressive new headquarters, that will be officially opened on Friday. Such a range of cars has probably never been on display together at one event. Next to the Abt-Audi TT-R, the winning car of the DTM, Abt is also showing Formula 1-machinery from Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Jordan and Sauber and a car from the Champ Car-series. Another highlight will be the Infineon Audi R8 with which Audi won the Le Mans 24 Hours for the third consecutive time this tear and that also took Christian Abt and Laurent Aiello to podium finishes in France already.
Together with Abt Sportsline, many partners will present themselves at the Racing Show as well. Sony will install a huge game tent, Hasseröder and Red Bull are taking a giant-size bar to Kempten, DTM-tyre partner Dunlop has a space shuttle simulation. Also Bilstein, H&R, Sebring, tuning tyre partner Continental, Sonax, BBS and the cheese company Käsery Champignon are supporting the party with stands and promotions. And anyone who missed it at the race track can stock up with caps, t-shirts, flags and other merchandise-items during the week-end.
Next to the appearances of the DTM-stars, Abt Sportsline has also organised many further activities. The championship-winning team will demonstrate pit stops, the drivers will make the company's new headquarters disappear in the smoke of doughnuts, Sony will be presenting an exciting motorcycle-show. Moreover, there is a big prize draw including hot-air balloon rides and helicopter rides. Access to all the activities that will be taking place at Abt Sportsline's and at the nearby VW Zentrum Kempten is free on all three days. On Friday and Saturday, the Abt Racing Show will be open from 9.00 till 18.00 h, on Sunday from 9.00 till 17.00 h.
