Ole von Beust invites DTM to Hamburg
Following the successful 2004 DTM launch, DTM is also celebrating its 2005 season launch in Hamburg after an invitation of Hamburg's mayor, Ole von Beust. Only shortly after the successful premiere in 2004, the Hanseatic City's governing mayor had invited DTM to also start its 2005 season in Hamburg.
"Hamburg is proud of the fact that DTM is again going to celebrate its 2005 launch event in Hamburg," said von Beust. "Last year, the citizens of Hamburg welcomed DTM in enthusiastic style, proving our city's enthusiasm for sport. Thanks to this event, Hamburg is once again the focus of the sporting world."
On 5th April, DTM will take centre stage at the 'Rathausmarkt' and at the banks of River Alster. "Last year, Hamburg was a fantastic host," said ITR Chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht, "With more than enthusiastic 15.000 fans celebrating a great season kick-off event with us."
DTM: Motor racing very close to the fans
Numerous activities offer the DTM enthusiasts the chance of enjoying a very close DTM experience in Hamburg. In the paddock located at the 'Rathausmarkt', the DTM aces will be interviewed and will sign autographs while the DTM manufacturers, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Opel, will launch their new DTM challengers and present all the drivers contesting the 2005 season.
Furthermore, several driving activities around River Alster will provide the visitors with the chance of watching the 500bhp touring cars in action. The DTM launch attendance is free. "We will inspire the enthusiasts with spectacular activities," promised ITR Chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht.
On 4th April, on the eve of the official DTM launch, there will be a ceremonial event taking place in the ballroom of Hamburg's town hall, with guests and VIP guests from sports, business, show business and culture being invited for a gala dinner.
The 2005 DTM season will kick off on 17th April, at the Hockenheimring. With new drivers such as two-time Formula One world Champion Mika Häkkinen and former Formula One ace Allan McNish, new circuits and new drivers, the 2005 season promises to be the most exciting DTM season ever.
