DARLINGTON, SC - Trim Parts, Inc., a leading manufacturer of those hard-to-find trim parts for classic Chevrolets and Corvettes, recently decided to back Wally Stroupe's Pro Stock effort in 2000. It was once reported the two parties had parted ways and that was indeed accurate.
However, the two parties decided that they could serve one another well and opted to give the marketing program a try in the highly competitive IHRA Pro Stock division.
Stroupe is excited to have Trim Parts, Inc., aboard for another season.
"The people at Trim Parts are good people," explained Stroupe. "We are confident that we will have a strong program in 2000 and so do they. I can understand that a 2000 Monte Carlo didn't have the same affect that a 1963 Corvette did in selling their product. But, they understood my reasoning into going this route."
Jim Pennekamp of Trim Parts, Inc. believes in the Stroupe family as a marketing tool.
"You'll be hard pressed to find a greater group of people than the Stroupe family," explained Pennekamp. "I feel like we have built such a good relationship with them, that we wanted to at least give it a try in the Pro Stock ranks and see how well it could produce for us. It's no secret that Pro Stock has been the longest running professional category under the IHRA sanction. Top Fuel was once discontinued and so was Nitro Funny Car, but Pro Stock has run continuous. There's a reason for that."
The team will make their 2000 season-opening national event debut at the IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals next week, March 9 -11 in Darlington, SC. The event will be televised on TNN.
