STANTON, MI. - Sooner or later when you have someone's number, they tend to jump up and even the score and most of the times it comes at the most inopportune time. This past weekend couldn't have worst timing for Top Fuel driver Bruce Litton.

His Wix Filters presented by the Top Dragster Driving Experience team missed a golden opportunity in the semi-finals when they met current Top Fuel points leader Paul Romine at the CARQUEST Northern Nationals at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex. In their previous two meeting, Litton beat Romine in the final round at Cordova and Leicester, after Romine won the season opening Winter Nationals in Darlington. At the CARQUEST Northern Nationals, it was Romine's turn to turn on the winning light at the 1320-foot stripe.

Holding lane choice against the former champ, Litton cut a .486 light to Romine's .478, then wasn't able to make up any ground, as the Wix Filter machine crossed the finish line at a 4.866/277.86 to Romine's winning 4.751/308.53.

"That was a good drag race," claimed Litton in the battle of Indianapolis-based drivers. "I knew Paul would be ready for me after our last two races and he cut a great light and just had a faster race car today. I'm sure we'll met again though before the season's over and we will be ready for him as he isn't going to run away with this points championship despite his event win."

Litton entered into Saturday's rescheduled event as the second quickest qualifier. He used a 4.951/288.46 to take a tire-smoking Jim Head.

He had lane choice going into the match against Romine, but in the end, it was Romine scoring the victory.

Litton has just three days to prepare for the next IHRA event, the premiere IHRA event of the year, the Mopar Parts World Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, which begins with Top Fuel qualifying this Wednesday.

The Top Dragster Driving Experience has retained Litton's team to carry out their marketing program with WIX Filters. Top Dragster Driving Experience President Joel Collins feels the triangle marketing partnership between WIX Filters, his company and Litton's team provides a future example for other teams aspiring to run Top Fuel.
