BRADENTON, FL-- Reigning IHRA and Winter Nationals Top Fuel champion Paul Romine was upset today in round one of the Prolong Super Lubricants Winter Nationals at DeSoto Memorial Dragway, Bradenton, FL.

The CARQUEST Auto Parts Dragster of Romine lost traction just past the starting line and lost to competitior Wayne Bailey, 5.136 /241.87 to 5.679/234.19.

"It just wasn't our day today," Romine said. "We thought we had a grasp on the track condition, but the car just overpowered it. It's a disappointing loss, but we'll regroup and be ready for Darlington."
