IHRA Announces Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals and World Nationals Presented by PPG to be Reformatted

IHRA has announced that the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park will be reformatted and follow a Friday through Sunday schedule and the World Nationals presented by PPG at Norwalk Raceway Park has been reformatted to follow a Thursday through Sunday schedule.

The Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals, originally formatted for August 11-13, will be reformatted for August 12-14, while the World Nationals presented by PPG, originally formatted for August 24-27, will be reformatted for August 25-28.

"I went back and did a study of every Thursday through Saturday format event we've done and compared it to the Friday through Sunday format events," stated IHRA President Aaron Polburn. "In every case, we've done better finishing on Sunday and it's the format that IHRA and our track owners like better.

In the case of the World Nationals, starting on Thursday and finishing on Sunday follows that same logic."

While IHRA has reformatted the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals and the World Nationals presented by PPG back to the format that finishes on Sunday, the AC Delco Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park will keep the same dates as originally scheduled. "The exception is Virginia Motorsports Park. Unless you're the Indianapolis 500, doing business on Memorial Day Sunday is less than desirable," Polburn explained. "Because of the holiday weekend the Thursday through Saturday format is a perfect fit for VMP."
