CENTER LINE, Mich. - Team Mopar will bring two former NOPI Drag Racing Association (NDRA) champions to the strip this Saturday and Sunday during the Mopar NOPI Race Wars at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
Shaun Carlson, the 2002 XBox Cup champion in the NDRA Pro Outlaw class, and Scott Mohler, the 2002 XBox Champion in the NDRA Pro Stock class, will thunder their factory-backed Mopars through the finish line at the World Finals of the 2003 "NOPI The Fast and the Furious Racing Series for the Xbox Cup" season in hopes of putting on a superb show for fans and the event sponsor at the Mopar NOPI Race Wars.
Both Carlson and Mohler hold elapsed-time and speed records in their respective NHRA divisions. Mike Crawford, their Mopar teammate and former national record holder for the fastest front-wheel-drive domestic car, will compete in his Pro Four Cylinder entry, a Dodge SRT-4 capable of eight second quarter-mile passes.
The Mopar presence will be felt off the track as well, as the state- of-the-art traveling Mopar Speedshop will be featured in the midway at Fontana. Fans and competitors alike will be able to tour the dynamic medley of light and sound, which includes a fantastic array of parts and information from Mopar Performance. The display will also feature a wide variety of hot DaimlerChrysler show vehicles.
The mobile Mopar Speedshop takes its theme and many of its design cues from stationary Mopar Speedshops that are being built at Chrysler Group dealerships across North America. The traveling Speedshop display was a hit at the recent NOPI Nationals in Atlanta in September.
The Mopar NOPI Race Wars will feature dozens of attractions, from several divisions of NDRA eliminations, the NOPI drift exhibition, DUB Magazine, a tuner show, foam parties, swimsuit contests, sound system competitions and much more.
