QUAIN STOTT REACHES IHRA EMPIRE NATIONALS SEMIFINALS

LEICESTER, NY. — Quain Stott couldn't help but smile as he climbed out of his car following his best performance of the 1998 season. The crafty veteran Pro Modified driver from Inman, South Carolina ran hard to reach the semifinals of the IHRA Empire Nationals and lost to Fred Hahn.

Stott began his weekend by qualifying the Bug Eater '63 Corvette in the fifth spot with a 6.680/209.88 and by virtue of that spot faced Mike Castellana in the opening round. After running a 6.65/209.75 to beat him, he carded a 6.66/209.95 to top veteran Quick Eight racer Ronnie Hood.

Stott was an obvious underdog versus Hahn's 6.5 second '37 Chevy, but that didn't stop him from strapping a holeshot on his foe. However, he was unable to fend off Hahn's 6.53/210.28 and recorded a 6.67/210.70 for the loss.
