Trim Parts, Inc. Signed To Major Sponsorship On Harley Communications Jr. Dragster
SPARTANBURG, SC -- Kelli Bennett has won half the battle in entering drag racing. The nine year old, third grader at Spartanburg, S.C.'s Pine Street Elementary signed veteran Chevrolet trim parts and classic restoration aftermarket manufacturer Trim Parts, Inc., to a major sponsorship. The terms of the deal, which will make him a teammate of Pro Modified racer Wally Stroupe, were not released.
This second-generation racer is the son of veteran drag racing freelance journalist Bobby Bennett, Jr., who also handles the public relations for several prominent teams on the IHRA/Snap-On Tools Championship Drag Racing Series as well as serves as a contributing editor for Drag Review magazine. Kelli was nothing less than ecstatic about his upcoming venture.
"I realize that signing a sponsorship is an honor," explains Kelli. "It makes me happy that is is my first year running in the junior dragster class and there are people like Trim Parts that believe enough in me to sponsor me. I can only hope that I don't let anyone down."
Trim Parts, Inc., President Carl Chadwell feels that the junior dragster program is one that needs to be supported for the sake of drag racing's future.
"Once upon a time, Wally Stroupe was a kid and an aspiring drag racer," explained Chadwell. "We can only hope that our involvement with Kelli will one day lead him to be a racer the same caliber as Wally. All kids deserve that kind of a chance to get started."
The junior dragster that Bennett will pilot will come forth from Stroupe's race car shop and will be based on the design of legendary top fuel racer Don Garlits' Swamp Rat XXX while sporting the Trim Parts livery. It will be on display at all IHRA national events as well as the annual open house at Trim Parts', Milford, Ohio based corporate headquarters. His home track will be Greer Dragway in Greer, S.C., where he will be running for the junior dragster points championship.
