DARLINGTON, SC - Darlington has been good to John Montecalvo and it's no wonder that he's in a big hurry to return to there. This is the same facility in which he became the first Pro Stocker driver to run in the 6.50s and it was also the site of his second career major victory at the recently completed CompetitionPlus.Com Groundhog Warm-up. The Center Moriches, NY.-based, Pro Stock driver is anxious to do battle in his Citgo-sponsored, Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the upcoming IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals to start.

Montecalvo has a new look with the same relentless pursuit of excellence approach.

"It's no big secret that we are gunning for the title in 2000," explained Montecalvo. "We have been pleased with what we've accomplished in preseason testing and I'm very much confident that it will pass over into the season next week."

Montecalvo has a new chief wrench in Steven Cultrera as well some more help that is as committed to seeing him win as he is.

The veteran Chevrolet driver was the first to break the Ford stronghold in the division last season by winning the IHRA Parts Pro North American Nationals in Epping, NH. He will continue to use Sonny Leonard power in an attempt to reclaim his role of the being the quickest Chevy in the division.

The team will make their 2000 season-opening national event debut at the IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals next week, March 9 -11 in Darlington, SC. The event will be televised on TNN.
