The NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series is comprised of eight stand-alone events, and will for the first time be included at NHRA POWERade Drag Race events in Las Vegas (April 14-17) and at the 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka (May 26-29).
"We are excited to bring the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series championship categories to two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events in 2004 and having them compete for NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series World Championship points," said Gary Darcy, vice president of marketing, NHRA. "With the support we have received from the racing community, including racers, sponsors and fans, we believe this is a logical step in the evolution of the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series and a wonderful opportunity to introduce this exciting form of drag racing and its stars to our NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series audience."
