Harris takes Top Fuel points lead, 15 winners crowned at 16th Nitro Nationals Nostalgia Drags.

May 1, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, NV - The second stop in the Goodguys / K&N Filters 2004 Summer Series brought two action-packed days & nights of vintage drag racing excitement to the desert drag strip. Three groups of nitromethane powered racecars provided fans with spectacular displays of fire-breathing speed while winners were crowned in 6 professional and 9 sportsman categories.

Jack Harris of Kaysville, UT captured the laurels in Top Fuel while reseting the track speed and elapsed time records (5.83 at 255.48 mph) with a victory over Bill Dunlap of Capitola, CA. Sean Bellemeur emerged triumphant in Top Fuel B competition and Mike Adams of Prescott, AZ wheeled his '79 Corvette into the Nostalgia Funny Car winner's circle.

March Meet winner Bill Wayne doubled-up in A/Fuel with a final round victory over Darby Neagle and the two Junior Fuel categories found Don Enriquez repeating in the B division while J.D. Zink beat the 2003 VRA World Champion, Scott Parks. Chris Abbey captured his first victory since entering the popular AA/Gas class by beating John Peterson.

Four divisions of Gassers competed at the Nitro Nationals. Jim Data blasted his '57 Pontiac past Don Chemello in A/Gas, James Schwartz captured B/Gas in his Chevy Vega, Paul Giacalone won C/Gas in a '55 Chevy and Larry Spies took D/Gas in his '67 Fairlane.

In Nostalgia Eliminator racing the current VRA champ Don Taros beat Roy Victor in the all dragster final. The 2002 NE2 champion Dan Schrokosch regained his winning ways and Craig White prevailed in NE3. The remaining sportsman category found Jeff Crider and Jeff Jackson battling for Hot Rod Eliminator. Crider got the win in his Vega panel wagon over the '57 Chevy of Jackson.

The next vintage drag racing event on the Goodguys calendar is the Hot Rod Natioinals and will take place at the fabled Indianapolis Raceway, June 11,12 & 13th.
