ENGLISHTOWN, NJ - It may have been at match race at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, but what it amounted to for Johnny Rocca and his team was an opportunity to redeem themselves from two DNQs on the IHRA trail. Driver Troy Critchley had no equal on that day as he hammered out a 228.08 mile per hour blast. He made a clean sweep of the event.

Car owner Rocca admits the run was a bright spot on what has turned out to be a dismal season to this point.

"We're making progress," explained Rocca. "However, I don't feel that we've been off. We just haven't had any luck to this point. With qualifying being limited to only two runs in the first two events, we just have caught some bad breaks along the way. It has gotten to where you must hit your qualifying run on the first lap. There's no room for the old traditional baseline run anymore."

In the first run, the Ironhorse made a solo run when Tommy Gray was unable to make the first round call.

The second lap was a stout one as Critchley hammered out a 6.37/227 for the victory over Mike Castellana.

Critchley saved his best for last as he matched against Gray. Off of the line, Gray nailed the tires and the classic Merc charged to its third consecutive victory with a 6.32 at 228.08.
