DARLINGTON, SC - There's nothing like the lure of a new season to get drag racers fired up and ready to head to the strip with new enthusiasm. One of those drivers is Grove City, Ohio's Dwayne Rice, an IHRA Pro Stock racer. Why is he so eager? It's simple, the professional excavator, who pilots the World's Quickest Pontiac Pro Stocker, is ready to flex his horsepower muscles in the popular mountain motor division which stands as drag racing's closest comparison to Winston Cup Racing. He's very much confident that he'll reel off a few 6.50s at Darlington as well.

"If the weather deals us a pretty good hand, we'll do just fine." explains Rice, who is a graduate of Roy Hill's drag racing school. "We've worked hard in the off-season and I hope that it pays off. I'm not worried. I'm sure that no one is going to take us for granted."

Before Rice joined the Pro Stock ranks, he was a proficient IHRA Modified eliminator competitor and holds the honor of becoming the first doorslammer pilot in the class to dip into the six-second zone at over 200 miles per hour.

Rice has already established his worth in the pre-season by pushing his Pontiac to a runner-up in the Pro Stock division at the CompetitionPlus.Com Groundhog Warm-up, also hosted at Darlington. He was the second quickest in the class in terms of overall testing performance.

He will make his 2000 season-opening national event debut at the IHRA Prolong Winter Nationals this week, March 9 -11 in Darlington, SC. The event will be televised on TNN.
