DARLINGTON, SC - Former Pro Mod standout Wally Stroupe made it into his first Pro Stock field with only one attempt. Stroupe, who is making the transition to Pro Stock from Pro Mod this season showed he has no trouble weaning himself off the nitrous bottle. His new Monte Carlo showed up at Darlington proudly displaying the colors of Trim Parts Restoration Parts.

Stroupe did not make it down the track during the first qualifying session on Thursday, making it in on the early Friday session. In the second session Stroupe proved he didn't need the juice to perform, as he laid down a 6.767/204.39. Stroupe hoped to step up in the final session, but that session was halted due to rain. Stroupe's 6.767 placed him in the 14th seeding, pairing him against Tom Lee in the first round. Stroupe left the line first but was outmuscled by Lee as the former rookie of the year took the win by a slight margin. Stroupe ran a 6.826 to Lee's quicker 6.757, but with Stroupe's starting line advantage the margin at the finsh was a mere .045 seconds.

Stroupe and his Trim Parts Restoration Parts Chevy Monte Carlo will return to action this April 7-9 at the Holley Spring Nationals held at Rockingham Dragway.
