CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 6, 2003) -- Hot on the heels of his recent announcement regarding the formation of a new two-car Pro Modified team, owner and driver Charles Carpenter is pleased to report Embee Performance Coatings has signed on as a major associate sponsor on his 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, "The World's Fastest '55."

"I am thrilled to have Embee Performance Coatings join our program as a marketing partner," said Carpenter. "They offer thermal coatings that help reduce heat on major engine components such as pistons, valves and headers. I am looking forward to experimenting with their specialty coatings to find the best combination that will help me increase horsepower and dissipate the heat for a longer life span on the parts."

Carpenter drives a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air in the popular Pro Modified class of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) drag racing series. He is considered the "Father of the Pro Mods," and has won three championships in his career, winning the Super Chevy title twice (1988, '89) and the 1992 United States Super Circuit championship.

"Charles Carpenter offered us the best opportunity to reach the competitors who can benefit from using our coatings, as well as market to the fans looking for ways to enhance the performance of their street rods and other vehicles," explained David Dahlberg of Embee Performance Coatings. "The IHRA drag racing series allows us to hit a target audience of professional and sportsman competitors, as well as enthusiastic fans, many who enjoy tuning and upgrading their own cars."

Embee Performance Coatings are specifically designed to reduce friction and wear on vital engine components. The unique heat transfer properties of the coatings cause an even fuel burn. For example, on pistons the even heat distribution allows the engine to run within the tolerances it was designed for and drastically reduces piston distortion. Embee Performance Coatings, located in Santa Ana, Calif., currently coats engine parts for several professional race teams, including Top Fuel dragsters, stock cars, motorcycles and drag boats. Carpenter intends to compete in the final nine events of the 2003 IHRA season, starting with the June 6-8 ACDelco Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park in Richmond, Va. For more information on this legendary racer and about "The World's Fastest '55" Chevrolet, visit www.fastest55.com.
