Motorsport.com -- Bruno Cauvy, co-driver, in the Les Pharaons de Thau Toyota team was pronounced dead today by doctors at the scene. The 48-year-old frenchman and team driver, Daniel Nebot were in 63rd Cars overall prior to stage nine of the Dakar Rally.

Nebot and Cauvy's accident took place at approximately 165 miles during the special stage between Zilla and Sirar.

Statement from Dakar Organizers:
It is with great sadness that the organizers of the Dakar announce the death of Bruno Cauvy, co-driver of car number 280. The organizers and the whole Dakar family express their sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

The accident occurred at km 270 of the special from Zilla and Sirar in Lybia.

The medical staff arrived 27 minutes after the organizers were informed to find the car upside down on the track and were only able to pronounce Bruno Cauvy dead at the scene of the accident.

Driver Daniel Nebot is in a good state of health.
